GRONINGEN – To enjoy a relaxed holiday it is important to prepare well. What should you consider as a holidaymaker in Turkey?
While winter has yet to begin, many are already yearning for summer temperatures due to the vicissitudes of autumn. Some even decide to spend the winter in a warm country. But for most of us, holidays in the sun won’t be a given until summer next year. Especially since the borders are finally reopened after years of corona. Are you planning for next year an all inclusive in Turkey book to enjoy the beautiful sandy beaches, delicious Turkish food and the hospitality of the Turkish people? So it’s important to keep a few things in mind.
Local crown rules in Turkey
Turkey is a country where many Dutch tourists like to spend their holidays. Especially since for two years it was practically impossible to visit Turkey’s famous seaside resorts due to corona. But now it seems to be over. Because from June 1, 2022 you can travel to Turkey again without proof of vaccination, recovery or testing. Even with airlines, wearing a face mask is generally no longer a requirement and it is left up to the passenger whether or not to wear one. However, this can vary by airline, so it is recommended that you bring along a face mask in your hand luggage just to be on the safe side. But otherwise all corona rules have been released, so as long as Dutch tourists abide by local law and respect Turkish customs, nothing can stop them from having a pleasant holiday in Turkey.
What else should you think?
In dry and hot summers, forest fires can occur in Turkey. Also, earthquakes are possible. Therefore, always keep abreast of local news and follow the instructions of the authorities in such cases. It is also useful to know that Turkey has high penalties for the possession, use and smuggling of narcotics. It is also a crime to carry historical-cultural or archaeological objects with you when you leave the country. And LGBTIQ is still not generally accepted in Turkey. This is certainly something to take into consideration.
