Jakarta –
This traveler was very disappointed after his plan failed completely. He intended to celebrate the new year 2024 twice in two different countries, but failed miserably.
It is not impossible to celebrate two New Year’s parties. Reporting from CNN on Wednesday (3/1/2024), there were not just one or two passengers. This traveler deliberately chose United Airline flight UA200 which took off from Guam on January 1 2024 at 07.35.
The plane flew to Honolulu, Hawaii. Because there are time zones, the plane passengers arrived in Honolulu before the year changed, to be precise on December 31 2023 at 18.50.
“You only live once, but you can celebrate New Year’s Eve twice,” wrote United Airline in its X account, early last week. The account then tweeted again about the flight.
“Time travelers are real,” he tweeted.
These special routes are not a new practice, every year there are flights that offer cabin crew passengers the opportunity to celebrate New Year, sometimes doing so several times on one route.
But that scenario did not go smoothly. The flight was delayed and took off from Guam on January 1 at 1:49 p.m. This means that all passengers and cabin crew will arrive in Honolulu on January 1 2024 at 12.34.
Several passengers expressed their disappointment via X.
“Great idea, too bad it’s delayed! I should have been on this flight. New Year’s twice doesn’t happen anymore,” tweeted one passenger.
“I booked this flight specifically so I could get in. I got a delay notice and we’re not scheduled to get in until January 1, 2024,” another passenger chimed in.
The lucky flight was Cathay Pacific CX872, which departed Hong Kong late January 1 at 1am and arrived in San Francisco on December 31 at 8:22pm. Then, All Nippon Airways flight NH106, which departs Tokyo on January 1 at 12:48 and lands in Los Angeles on December 31 at 17:12.
