The Traveler’s Hymn is a top-down, grid-based adventure game set in a dark fantasy world. The game stands out for its pleasant design, neat dialog boxes and smooth animation of the backpack character. But, the main surprise is that the game is completely free.
Developers from Aquatic Ranger Studio explainedwhy they decided not to give money for the game, despite its attractive appearance. They explained that this was their “first attempt at game development” and that development only took four months when the game started as a test. Although they felt the game was good enough to release, it didn’t have “a lot of content” so they were willing to put a price on it.
According to the developers, the game will take about “4-5 hours” to complete and will include exploration, combat and collecting rewards. Impressively, the game features over 20 unique locations, over 100 enemies and NPCs, and over 100 items – all created by a team of three over several months. Amazing! The game also has a hunger system, although you can ignore it.
There are no plans for further development of the game yet, but the developers will probably evaluate its success and decide whether to turn it into a full-fledged release, perhaps through early access on Steam .
If you want to try, The Traveler’s Hymn available on Steam starting today.
