Progress cannot be stopped, as proven at IFA, the major household appliance trade fair in Berlin, where we are taking you. A journey into the future where our everyday appliances will be increasingly intelligent, starting with ovens.
The ovenswhich are supposed to simplify our lives, could greatly innovate. For example, if you have a dish in your hands and you want to open the oven, Amazon’s voice assistant, Alexa, can do it for you. Well, to do this, you already need to have Alexa at home, which is not the case for everyone.
Second innovation of this oven, It detects food and offers to cook it itself. These two features are on Siemens, StudioLine and Bosch ovens. So it’s high-end and it costs quite a lot. The first prices start at around 700 euros.
Economical dishwasher
Concerning dishwashersthey should allow us to save money, thanks to the “Smart Start” program from Siemens. With a smartphone, there will be the possibility of starting the dishwasher only off-peak hourswhen it costs the least. For example, you indicate on the app that you want everything clean tomorrow morning, Smart Start knows what time to start it to make the most savings possible. It can also tell you within the next twelve hours when the electricity network will be heavily supplied with renewable energy.
The size gadget is also present at the Berlin household appliances fair. The Roborock 0 mini looks a lot like an astronaut helmet but it is actually a miniature washing machine where you can only put a maximum of one kilo of laundry in it. So the big question is: what is it for? “A lot of people ask for the miniature version to wash children’s and pets’ things separately. For single people too, they can use this machine in their apartments,” explains Tiffany Weng, marketing manager at Roborock. “It’s fast and energy and water efficient. Plus, it’s cute and very fast,” she continues.
Wireless kitchen
The wireless kitchen is also being talked about. It is possible to charge phones wirelessly by placing them on bases, and well it is the same technology that is installed under induction hobs, or under the counter. All you have to do is place a blender or a toaster on top, and it is powered without being plugged in.
This technology is currently being approved, but some brands want to market it by next year.
