Travel: Ryanair helps customers whose third-party booking sites block reimbursement

The company says it can reimburse 90% of its customers in cash by the end of July.

Ryanair will help customers whose reimbursement has been blocked by “unauthorized” third-party online travel booking sites like Last Minute.com, the Irish low-cost carrier said on Friday. It has indeed launched a specific “customer verification” procedure and video instructions for them.

The alleged online travel booking sites transmit false customer details to Ryanair and add customer names to “virtual” credit cards, which prevents direct refunds to customers. These ‘screen scrapers’ then refuse to respond to the refund requests from the travelers concerned.

Ryanair customer service has been swamped in recent weeks with complaints about these unauthorized websites refusing to deal with or assist Ryanair customers.

The airline invites these people who have been deceived and overcharged to request a refund directly from Ryanair using a new “customer verification” form on Ryanair.com.

The carrier said a few days ago that it would have made 90% of its customers’ cash refunds before the end of July.
