The project to build Terminal 4 at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, which would cost IDR 14 trillion, was rejected by BUMN Minister Erick Thohir. He said that after an investigation, it was deemed unnecessary to build this airport.

The emergence of plans to build this building in 2020 is a direct instruction from the 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). The building was built to support the airport’s passenger capacity.

“I asked again (AP II) because I ordered a year ago to build another 4th terminal immediately,” said Jokowi at Soetta Airport, Tangerang, last Thursday (23/1/2020 ).

This building is said to stand on an area of ​​120 hectares (ha) with a capacity of up to 45 million passengers per year. The construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2023 and can be run immediately or work in stages.

The construction of the project was also delayed. So far, the AP II board of directors has been reorganized by Erick Thohir, but there was still no clarity about the project. Now Wendo Asrul Rose is the main Director of Angkasa Pura II.

Now, Erick Thohir has confirmed that the construction of Terminal 4 at Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Soetta) has been postponed. This was expressed by Erick during a meeting with the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), today.

“Of course, we have to make sure that all projects are efficient, have clear criteria, and are not wasteful. That’s why we decided to cancel Terminal 4,” said Erick in Jakarta DPR, Monday (4/11/2024).

This does not mean that additional capacity is not being made for passengers. He said that with a budget of IDR 1 trillion for the development of Terminals 1, 2 and 3, additional capacity could be made.

“But that doesn’t mean we won’t increase passenger capacity. It turns out, at a cost of just Rp. 1 trillion, not Rp. 14 trillion, that we can increase Terminations 1, 2, 3 by improving the routes, as well as places that were possible before “It can be increased, that’s what we’re trying to do,” Eric explained.
