The public authorities on Friday, November 3, banned the travel of Lille supporters to Marseille for the clash of the 11th day of Ligue 1 between OM and Losc (Saturday, 9 p.m.). A decision which would have been taken by the Ministry of the Interior and which was made official by the northern club on the eve of the meeting at the Vélodrome stadium and a few days after the incidents of the OM-OL match.
A decision which comes late and which risks causing discontent among Lille fans. On the eve of the match on the 11th day of Ligue 1 between Olympique de Marseille and Losc (Saturday, 9 p.m.), the Ministry of the Interior banned this Friday, November 3, the travel of Mastiff supporters to the Marseille city. , announces the northern club in a press release.
Five days after the serious incidents on the sidelines of the Olympico, including the stone-throwing of the Rhone team’s bus and then those of the Lyon ultras, the public authorities finally decided not to take any risks by banning the 250 Lille supporters – initially authorized – to go to the Vélodrome stadium as planned.

Le Losc surprised by this ban
In its press release published this Friday, Losc confirmed the bad news and took the opportunity to express its surprise.
“Losc was informed this Friday morning of the decision of the authorities to prohibit the movement of Lille supporters to the Vélodrome stadium for the OM-Losc meeting this Saturday at 9 p.m.,” indicated the Mastiffs in a message published on their site.
“The club is extremely surprised by this decision taken by the Ministry of the Interior and more particularly by its timing since there was no question of this ban during the discussions held on Thursday and the information communicated by the prefecture of Bouches-du-Rhône. On the contrary, Losc had been notified of confirmation that the transport and security system had been reinforced in order to guarantee the best reception for its supporters.”
And Losc added: “If the authorities finally believe this (Friday) morning that they are not able to guarantee the safety of the 250 Lille supporters who have planned to travel to Marseille, LOSC must necessarily take note of this decision in order to protect its supporters from potential unrest. LOSC nevertheless regrets that they are, the day before the match and even though some are already in Marseille or on their way, the collateral victims of this procrastination.”
A “adapted” device for the safety of the Lille team
After the excesses around the Marseille enclosure and the postponement of the Olympico, the match between OM and Lille will in any case be the subject of an “adapted” security system. A sine qua non condition for playing the match according to the Mastiffs and in particular president Olivier Létang. The northern leader put the pressure on at the start of the week by demanding guarantees on the security of the Losc delegation in Marseille. Reassured by the promised measures, the Lille boss confirmed Thursday that Paulo Fonseca’s group would make the trip to Marseille.
A trip which will therefore take place without supporters for this important duel between two contenders for Europe during the 11th day of Ligue 1. Fourth in the standings, four points from first place, Lille can put pressure on their rivals. On the OM side, where a meeting between management and supporters took place, we want to raise our heads after three defeats in their last four championship matches. Raise our heads, too, on a symbolic level with a much calmer evening than for the Lyon reception.
