The building at Albert Street 12 was designed as a rental house by the Latvian architect Konstantīns Pēkšēns. Now, on its first floor, it is possible to go on a real journey in time – there is an apartment-museum, where not only the famous architect himself lived, but also a number of other notable people. In the museum, every smallest detail is an authentic testimony of the era. Furniture, dishes, apartment furnishings – all this allows you to fully immerse yourself in the world as it was in this place 100 years ago.

Agrita Tripāne, the director of the “Riga Jugendstila centrs” museum, emphasizes that Jugendstil, although it is considered romantic architecture, was the first modern style. The head of the museum says that it is arranged on two floors – the first is this apartment, the second is the changing expositions. There are currently two great exhibitions on view – one dedicated to water lilies in art nouveau design, the other has traveled from Belgium: a unique collection of art nouveau carpet sketches, which will be on view only until November 5.
