Travante Williams, North American basketball player for Sporting, expressed himself “happy” that FC Porto went to the game this Tuesday, after two no-shows in the form of a protest against the refereeing of the last game of last season’s play-off final, won by the lions by 86-85.
“I’m glad they showed up today,” wrote the Sporting player on social media, in a comment obviously coated with irony, pointing to the rivals’ recent no-shows at the games with Ovarense and Oliveirense.
On a day when the referees protested against the basketball federation’s statement, which opened doors for the return of Porto players to the competition, the Dragão team ended up beating Sporting by 66-59, in a game of the 13th round which, out of curiosity, allowed the lions, with just one point, to stand out at the top of the standings.
