Jakarta –
Drug trafficking in the University of North Sumatra (BELIEVE) was dismantled by the Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) of North Sumatra (North Sumatra). USU’s Chancellor wants to eliminate drug trafficking ahead of face-to-face learning (PTM).
BNN arrested 47 people at USU’s FIB campus. After a urine test, 31 of them were positive for marijuana, while 16 others were negative.
Acting Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology (Dirjen Diktiristek), Nizam, said USU was indeed coordinating with BNN to clean campuses of drugs.
“From the report I received from the USU Chancellor, the USU leadership is preparing PTM at USU and coordinating with BNN to clean the campus of drugs,” said Acting Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology (Dirjen Diktiristek), Nizam, to detikcom, Monday. (10/11/2021).
After the rectorate coordinated, BNN immediately began to investigate whether or not there was drug trafficking on the USU campus. After gathering some information, the raid was carried out.
“USU sent a letter to BNN to conduct a raid first on 30/9/2021. After that, BNN conducted a raid at USU’s FIB regarding drugs,” said Nizam.
Until now, USU is still coordinating with BNN for actions against these students. USU, explained Nizam, is cooperating to ‘clean up’ points that are strongly suspected of drug trafficking.
“Coordination with the National Narcotics Agency is USU’s effort not to provide more space for students and outsiders to use drugs on campus,” said Nizam.
“We urge students and all campus residents to never approach drugs. Use the students’ time and energy for positive and healthy activities, be serious about building a bright and bright future,” said Nizam.
The Chancellor of the University of North Sumatra (USU) Muryanto Amin said he would dismantle the room that was used as the location for the marijuana party on the USU FIB campus. The location will be used as a public space.
“Yes, it will be cleaned later. Temporarily closed, then we leveled the two times yesterday. In the room near the volleyball court at FIB we will flatten it. Later we will make it a public room,” said Muryanto to reporters, Tuesday (12/10).
He assessed that students who were secured by BNN and tested positive for drugs should be dealt with according to the law. Muryanto also said USU would tighten the use of space throughout the campus.
“We will make strict SOPs for the use of classrooms at night outside of lecture hours after face-to-face meetings,” he said.
He said the USU Rectorate would revive the anti-drug task force on the USU campus. He emphasized that anyone should not use USU’s facilities for unlawful acts.
“We hope, especially in locations that are often used, this is our serious concern. There is no longer tolerance and no more students are given or allowed to do activities on campus at night except for productive things,” said Muryanto.
“We will also mobilize the anti-drug students. The task force is at the university level, later at the faculty level we will form anti-drug students,” he continued.
One of the rooms suspected of being the place for a marijuana party began to be dismantled. There were two locations for the BNN raids in the USU FIB Campus area. The first location is on the terrace of the USU FIB building.
Officers then entered the inside of the campus. There is one room near the field which is suspected to be the location of the marijuana party. The room which is also located near the canteen looks to be starting to be destroyed. One of the campus security officers said that the room would be turned into a public space as ordered by USU Chancellor Muryanto Amin.
