In the morning hours of this Monday, the Volunteer Firefighters reported that a Transportes Esmeralda bus caught fire at km. 54.5 of the old route from the municipality of PalÃn to Escuintla.

According to the passengers’ version, the fire started after the bus collided with a pole. However, the driver version is still unknown. Given the incident, residents of the surrounding sectors reported electricity problems.

Elements of the Volunteer Firefighters used 2,300 gallons of water to put out the fire and prevent the flames from spreading to the undergrowth.

Users on social networks questioned the accident and mentioned that the pilots of these transports always drive at high speeds and the consequences are always human losses.

“They drive like crazy,†, “the authorities should regulate in more detail the recklessness of these buses,†, “the driver is not the only one to blame, the most guilty and irresponsible is the owner of the transport not to maintain it,” they stated.
