The transporters who blocked access to the city of Quetzaltenango announced this Monday that they will no longer carry out this type of actions, and that on Thursday they will join the marches.
The transporters, who demand the resignation of the attorney general of the Public ministry (MP), Consuelo Porras, and the head of the FECI, Rafael Curruchiché, assured that they decided to change their strategy to avoid confrontations with the groups that this Monday came out in support of the government and the MP.

“We have decided to change our strategy, we are no longer going to block, we are going to accompany the marches”said Edvin Velásquez, leader of the transportation movement.
However, neighborhood groups indicated through social networks that they will continue to close the entrances to Xela.
For their part, the members of the Quetzaltenango Transportation Coordinator (CTQ), who are not involved in the blockades, assured that they will continue to monitor the blocked points to prevent activities in the city from being paralyzed, especially the urban service.
“We do not agree with the blockades, the population needs to work, a colleague has lost close to Q15 thousand during these days of blockade”said Heráldica Leocadia Barrios, representative of the CTQ.
The blockades, which have been in place for more than two weeks, have caused shortages of food, medicine and other basic products in the west of the country.
Merchants and businessmen have reported million-dollar losses due to the impossibility of transporting their merchandise.
