As part of the third stage of economic revival, the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) approved a series of provisions for urban transport, inter-provincial passenger transport and for flights nationwide.

For the first, it established that the units that provide said service will be enabled to occupy 100% of the available seats.

Also, passengers must wear face masks and face shields to prevent the spread of the COVID-19.

In the case of combis, cústers and buses cannot transport standing passengers. This is established by Ministerial Resolution No. 0385-2020-MTC / 01, published this Saturday in the newspaper A Peruvian man.

The rules also consider key aspects such as cleaning and disinfecting vehicles, constant hand washing and other safety actions for drivers and users, such as the permanent use of masks, among others.

El MTC It also encourages the payment of the service by mechanisms that avoid contact between people, as well as the use of natural ventilation in the vehicle so that there is better air circulation.

In the case of inter-provincial transport, passengers and crew must wear face masks and face shields.

To avoid crowds, only the people who will make the trip should go to the terminal. Passengers should also file an affidavit of health to be able to board the transport buses, in which they ensure they are not infected with the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the company may use 100% of the seats, as long as implement a curtain of polyethylene or other similar material that contributes to insulation between the seats of the unit.

Otherwise, only sites that are adjacent to the window can be used. Standing travel is not permitted. This is established by Ministerial Resolution No. 0386-2020-MTC / 01.

Remember, travel will be allowed to all regions, except those where quarantine applies due to the high contagion rate: Áncash, Arequipa, Ica, Junín, Huánuco, San Martín and Madre de Dios.

As for the guidelines for flights nationwide, passengers, airlines and operators must comply with the following measures:

Measures that the passenger must comply

  • Only the passenger will enter the air facility. However, if you need help for your transfer, you may be accompanied by a person.
  • Travelers must be three hours before their flight in case they board the Jorge Chávez International Airport, and two hours in advance when they board the aircraft at the provincial air facilities.
  • Upon entering the air terminal, the temperature will be taken, who must wear a mask and face shield. In addition, they will disinfect the soles of your shoes and hands.
  • Deliver a health statement with personal data. The document facilitates the location of the passenger. Thus, you will be notified if you have been sitting near a patient with coronavirus.

Measures to be met by airlines

  • In aircraft, use of a highly efficient air filtration system, which cleans and renews the air every three minutes. It is for surgical use.
  • An orderly shipment will be made to maintain social distance and avoid crowds.
  • The aircraft will be disinfected before take-off and after landing, as well as when they spend the night (hours not in use) at the airport.
  • Airlines must have documentation supporting which chemicals they used for sanitation.
  • The body temperature of the crew will be taken at the beginning and end of their work day. They will use personal protective equipment (PPE) during all phases of the flight and will be trained to identify the symptoms of the coronavirus and assist patients with this disease.

Measures by airport operators

  • Protection panels will be placed on the counters, online check-in and use of digital readers will be encouraged.
  • Personnel in charge of baggage transfer and disembarkation will also use PPE. They will take frequent breaks to wash their hands.
  • Place areas for the dispensing of alcohol gel at various points.
  • Place signs in different languages ​​about hygiene measures and respect for social distancing.
  • Implement sanitation routines in common areas and increase the number of personnel dedicated to medical care.
