Below you’ll find a quick guide – based on information from the MTA – of the major service changes planned for the city’s subways and railroads.
Changes in metro service
4 trains in Brooklyn
Between 11:30pm Friday and 5am Monday, 4 trains will not run through Brooklyn due to station improvements.
Regular 4 train riders are advised to take the 2 or 3 train for service between Borough Hall and Franklin Avenue-Medgar Evers College, and the 3 train for service between Franklin Avenue-Medgar Evers College and New Lots Avenue. (The 3 train will run to and from New Lots Avenue all weekend.
Train in Brooklyn and Queens
A train between Euclid Avenue and Lefferts Boulevard/Howard Beach-JFK Airport will not run between 11:30 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday due to a new route.
The free bus service will replace the A trains at these stops.
There are A, C and E trains in Manhattan and Brooklyn
Due to access improvements, Euclid Av-bound C trains will run on the D line from 59th Street-Columbus Circle to 34th Street-Herald Square, then on the F from Jay Street-MetroTech; Downtown E trains will stop from 34th Street-Penn Station to Canal Street; and A trains will stop downtown from 59th Street-Columbus Circle to Canal Street.
G and F trains in Brooklyn
Due to signal upgrade work, from 9:30 a.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, G trains between Hoyt-Schermerhorn and Church Avenue will not run in both directions, and F trains to Coney Island will not run between Hoyt-Schermerhorn and Church Avenue. in each direction they will make express stops from Jay Street-MetroTech to Kings Highway.
J and M train in Brooklyn and Manhattan
Due to a new route, between 11:45pm Friday and 5am Monday, J trains will not run between Hewes Street and Broad Street in either direction, and M trains will not run between Myrtle Avenue and Delancey Street – Essex Street. J trains stop between Hewes Street and Myrtle Avenue, and free shuttle buses stop at Hewes Street, Marcy Avenue and Delancey Street-Essex Street.
N trains in Brooklyn and Manhattan
N trains will run on the R line between Canal Street and Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center in both directions during the weekend due to track maintenance.
Q trains in Brooklyn and Manhattan
Between 11:45pm Friday and 5am Monday, Q trains will not run between 34th Street-Herald Square and Kings Highway in both directions due to track maintenance.
Q trains run on two sections: between 96th Street and 34th Street-Herald Square, and between Kings Highway and Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue.
Free buses will replace the Q trains between Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center and Kings Highway.
2 and 5 trains in the Bronx
Due to structural maintenance, from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10:00 a.m. Sunday, Manhattan-bound 2 trains will make quick stops from Gun Hill Road to E 180 Street. not running from East 180th Street to Third Avenue-149th Street.
4, 5 and 6 trains in Manhattan
Between 9:45 a.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday, the northbound 6 and 4 trains will make a quick stop from Grand Central-42nd Street to 125th Street for structural maintenance.
During the day and night, the 5 trains will run every 20 minutes and the 6 trains every eight minutes, as the 4, 5 and 6 trains share a route in Manhattan.
6 trains in the Bronx
Between 9:45 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday, Manhattan-bound 6 trains will not stop at Parkchester due to electrical upgrade work.
7 trains in Queens
Between 11:45 p.m. Friday and 3:30 a.m. Monday, Flushing-bound 7 trains will stop quickly from 74th Street-Broadway to Mets-Willets Point due to structural improvement work.
Changes in rail service
LIRR City Terminal Zone
Westbound trains will not stop at Forest Hills and Kew Gardens, and westbound trains from Jamaica will not stop at Woodside, in the afternoon, evening and morning hours.
This is the result of a signal test. Friday and Saturday, this service change will not take effect until all Forest Hills Stadium performers have left the station.
Montauk Ramal of the LIRR
Due to bridge and track maintenance, Montauk Branch trains will not run between 12:30 a.m. Saturday and 4 a.m. Monday.
Port Jervis Metro-North Line
Between 12:30 am Saturday and 11:59 pm Sunday, trains will not run between Suffern and Port Jervis due to track work and bridge maintenance.
