Transport: these Rennais who prefer to keep the mask – Rennes

Since Monday, May 16, the mask is no longer compulsory in public transport. But, in Rennes, some inhabitants still wear it. A precautionary measure while the virus is still circulating. Among the users who came out of the buses or the metro this Monday morning, the same justifications often come up: the people of Rennes are concerned about their health and that of others.

It’s become a reflex

This is the case of Piel Carol, a lady in a hurry who has just left the metro at République station. “I still wear the mask as a precaution, even if it is no longer compulsory. I prefer not to take any risks”. Not far away, Guitton Cédric thinks of those who, like him, are people with reduced mobility. “I keep it to protect my friends in wheelchairs, because the coronavirus is always present, even if we don’t talk about it”.

For Mathieu and Jérôme, who are about to rush into the Charles de Gaulle station, the answer is practically the same. “I just put it on for transport, we are very tight and there is a lot of risk of catching the virus. It has also become a reflex to take it”. Jérôme confirms, especially since he is asthmatic and in fragile health. The mask had been compulsory in public transport for two years, the first instruction had been given on May 11, 2020.
