A project on the right track
The point weighted, late, the agenda of the Council of Smitu on November 24th. He unearths a project buried by the union: the creation of a 3e way to Luxembourg. The instigator of this return in the light of a cross-border line is none other than the sub-prefect of Thionville, who acted at the request of the prefect of Moselle, himself made aware of this issue by the prefect of the Region … therefore from the top of the prefectural pyramid, this invitation to take an interest in this new transport route to the Grand Duchy has not gone unheeded.
Recently, a working meeting was held in the town hall of Thionville. At the table of Pierre Cuny, the Smitu, representatives of Val de Fensch, Pays-Haut and Cattenom and surroundings. The shadow of the prefecture has hovered over the first exchanges deemed “constructive” by Roger Schreiber. Which does not hide its desire to accelerate: “I do not see why this 3e line had disappeared from the screens before my appointment to Smitu. Now, a territorial reflection is underway. And it seems appropriate to me to apply for the Territorial Coherence Scheme (Scot) to move forward. »

A project that interests funders

A unifying project?
Michel Paquet unveiled the recent restitution of a study commissioned two years ago. The document, in the hands of the president of the community of communes of Cattenom and surroundings, would attest to the desire of the interco to regain control of the “mobility” competence. As a reminder, six so-called “isolated” municipalities in the territory of the CCCE are served by the Citéline network.
The prospect of seeing this 3e the way to Smitu curb the CCCE’s desire for emancipation? Nothing is less sure. The choice of the route of this line will weigh heavily in the balance: “If he takes the direction of Pays-Haut and Val d’Alzette, it is not good”, judges Roland Balcerzak. The mayor of Hettange-Grande pleads for a circuit which would cross his municipality, Kanfen, Volmerange-les-Mines “and another network in the direction of Mondorf-les-Bains”. This condition does not seem negotiable for the six isolated municipalities, determined to defend their interests: “There is no question, for the moment, of withdrawing from the union, reassures the elected representative.
