Transport passes have to be validated again in the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon in May – Actualidade

In a statement, AML said that “the mandatory validation of titles in the public road passenger transport service is restored as of May”.

This measure, according to the intermunicipal entity, stems from “the permanent reassessment of the pandemic situation of the new coronavirus Covid-19, and the different phases of the state of emergency”, saying that it is “committed to the gradual normalization of the offer of the public road transport service. , which serves and responds to users’ needs “.

For this reason, the AML said to proceed with the return of the mandatory validation of the titles, because “the necessary security and protection measures are guaranteed” and “in the sense of promoting the progressive return to normality”.

Remember that, in the current state of emergency, transport tickets are no longer sold on board and passengers are no longer required to validate them, “To reduce the risk arising from contact between passengers, drivers and other workers”. Also in Metro, Transtejo and Soflusa the access channels are now open, “to minimize the need for frequent contact between passengers and workers with validators”.

Despite these measures, AML had maintained the obligation for passengers to bring their tickets. Now, however, it will be necessary to have the ticket loaded.

“We call, therefore, the attention that all passengers must be accompanied by a valid ticket, for example navigator pass, which they will be able to load from the 26th in the usual places, including the ATM network, thus avoiding the formation of queues or concentration in points of sale and minimizing direct personal contacts “, announces AML.

According to AML, more measures will also be implemented in this return to normality, including “the strengthening of cleaning and disinfection of vehicles, installations, equipment, and ticketing equipment”, recalling the instance that “all operators in the metropolitan area of Lisbon are equipped with contactless ticketing systems, which allows the validation of any titles without the need for physical touch “.

The intermunicipal entity also informs that it is monitoring the instructions regarding the “use of masks by passengers”, also guaranteeing that it is “in permanent articulation with the road operators in order to reinforce the offer and to implement additional hygiene measures, airing the buses. and driver protection “.
