NEW YORK – During a gay pride in New York, panic broke out among those present on Sunday evening when they thought they heard shots. Hundreds of people rushed out of Washington Square Park. Police say the explosions were caused by fireworks.
“No shots were fired in Washington Square Park. After investigation, it was determined that the fireworks were set off at the location,” said the New York police. He also said that no one was seriously injured in the incident.
Thousands of people gathered in New York on Sunday to attend the parade. It is the second largest pride parade in the country.
Earlier this weekend, during the celebration of Gay Pride in Norway, a shooting took place at a gay nightclub in Oslo. Two people were killed and 21 were injured.
