Transport of ores:COMILOG has received a floating station Transport of ores:COMILOG has received a floating station

Libreville, Monday November 27, 2023 (Infos Gabon) – This ultra-modern equipment will increase loading capacity and facilitate the transfer of manganese.

The Ogooué mining company (COMILOG) will have to increase its manganese transport capacity. The company has just acquired a floating station at the New Owendo International Port (NOIP). Named “Nord Gabon”, this ultra-modern equipment was received on November 21 during a ceremony attended by the heads of the Merchant Navy, the NOIP, the Norden company, the managing director of COMILOG and the Director of Railways and Port Facilities (DFIP).

This building positioned off the coast of Libreville should enable COMILOG to efficiently carry out its classic transshipment activities to capesizes, large vessels with a capacity of 200,000 tonnes. The company thus intends to boost its competitiveness in terms of mineral transport given that the port of Owendo is only reserved for so-called “Supramax” boats whose volumes do not exceed 50,000 tonnes. “North Gabon” will contribute to reducing the carbon footprint. “For a mining country like Gabon which is developing with strong ambition, this type of equipment will certainly multiply,” indicated Léod-Paul Batolo, Managing Director of COMILOG.
