Transport NRW Construction work between Cologne and Bonn is hindering rail traffic

While the streets in North Rhine-Westphalia fill up on Wednesday morning (November 13th), there are also disruptions in rail traffic. Commuters in Cologne are also affected.

Like the portal zuginfo.nrw announced that there is construction work between Cologne Central Station and Bonn Central Station. Those affected are Rhein-Ruhr-Express (RRX) RE 5, the RB 26 and the RB 48. The RE 5 runs between Koblenz and Wesel, the RB 26 between Köln Messe/Deutz and Mainz, the RB 48 between Wuppertal and Bonn-Mehlem. The trains run slower in the affected section of the route. As a result, there are now delays and partial cancellations.

The construction work began on Wednesday night and should be finished by 9 a.m. Travelers are asked to check the connection shortly before the train departs.

Loss of staff at RB 48

There is also a short-term staff shortage on RB 48, which leads to further cancellations along the entire route until Wednesday afternoon. According to zuginfo.nrw, the following journeys are affected:

RB 48, Wuppertal-Oberbarmen (06:38) – Bonn-Mehlem (08:17), complete failure

RB 48, Wuppertal-Oberbarmen (11:12) – Cologne Hbf (12:05), complete cancellation

RB 48, Wuppertal-Oberbarmen (12:13) – Bonn Hbf (13:50), partial cancellation Cologne Hbf (13:08) – Bonn Hbf

RB 48, Bonn-Mehlem (08:44) – Wuppertal-Oberbarmen (10:18), complete failure

RB 48, Bonn Hbf (1:07 p.m.) – Wuppertal-Oberbarmen (2:47 p.m.), complete cancellation

RB 48, Bonn Hbf (14:07) – Wuppertal-Oberbarmen (15:45), partial cancellation Bonn Hbf – Cologne Hbf (14:47)

The RE 7 and RB 26 trains should be used as an alternative travel option between Bonn-Mehlem and Wuppertal-Oberbarmen. You can change to the RB 26 in the direction of Bonn-Mehlem or the RE 7 in the direction of Wuppertal-Oberbarmen in Cologne main station. (cme)
