Ita and Volotea are the only two companies interested in guaranteeing from 14 October to 14 May, therefore for 7 months, the coverage of flights in territorial continuity to and from Sardinia, after the extension of the service charges imposed by a decree signed by the minister Giovannini. Even if Volotea, despite having made lower offers better than those of Ita, risks being excluded from the tender due to a formal defect: the identity document of the ad.
A total of twelve envelopes were presented, six by Ita and six by Volotea, one for each of the connections between the island’s three airports – Alghero, Cagliari and Olbia – and the airports of Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate. The Region, as confirmed by the Transport Councilor Giorgio Todde on the sidelines of the opening of the envelopes, had invited 11 carriers, those operating nationally. That is: Ryanair, EasyJet, Volotea, Ita, Blue Air, Vueling, Dat-Danish Air Transport, Blue Panorama, Neos, Air Malta and Wizz Air. To these, in extremis, was added the company Tayaran Jet.
