Transport. Citezen: 25 M € for the future depot of electric buses

5.2 ha of buildings and car parks

The Smitu union committee has therefore unanimously validated the program for the future bus maintenance and storage center. The site chosen is that of a former 7.5 ha railway wasteland, located at 1 rue d’Alsace in Florange. A land surrounded by two high voltage lines, an archaeological zone and a portion of the route of the A31 bis.

For now, it is only a question of outlining the outlines of this new tool. The first requirements still give an idea of the baby. It will be sized to eventually accommodate 123 vehicles (electric and diesel initially), 330 people, a maintenance workshop, offices, a washing station, an electric refueling area and another for diesel.

It will also have 140 spaces for staff, 20% of which will be reserved for electric vehicles.

Estimated needs: 8MW

In order to stick to the philosophy of the Citezen project (sustainable development, reduction of CO2 emissions), the Smitu wishes to integrate photovoltaic panels on shade to cover part of the energy needs of the buildings, estimated in the long term at around 8MW. A rainwater collection system and a green roof are also included in the specifications.

Initially, the site will accommodate both electric buses and diesel buses. Gradually, the fleet of diesel buses will be replaced. Electrical equipment and networks will be pre-installed for this purpose.

It is now time for the launch of the project management competition, before the start of work in 2022.
