Transparent TV: Subway windows in China already have LG OLED panels

When Xiaomi announced its first transparent OLED TV, did we mention that other brands had already had similar products focused on advertising and commercial environments. In the case of LG, a South Korean brand with extensive experience in OLED technology, has signed an agreement with the subway system in Beijing and Shenzhen to include on lines 6 and 10, respectively, transparent panels that replace the car windows.

This technology allows display information on train schedules on 55-inch transparent panels, the different stations on the route, the city’s weather, flight details and connections with other transport systems.

This novelty could reach other cities in the Asian country, depending on the agreements that LG may sign with construction companies and companies bidding for the subway service in other locations.

In accordance with GizmoChina, the implemented screens have a 38% transparency level and a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. At the moment, there is no specific information on the trains that have added this system to their windows.

“The application of transparent screens will become more diverse”, mentioned Chang-ho Oh, senior vice president of LG Display. Its division “aims to supply products to a wide range of industries in accordance with the vision” from the South Korean firm.
