TRANSITING The New Voice of Dominican Art, Muralism.

CHRONICLES OF PUBLIC ART IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC 2021.

Public art, especially muralism, worldwide in recent years has taken a great boom, coming to be considered the art of the era. Since 2014 in the Dominican Republic, artists have taken art into their own hands, activating local public art, collectives such as EL PROYECTO ARTISTICO TRANSITANDO, movement of Dominican muralists, public art province, Mirabal sisters, artists’ collective from Cotuy, Hoy Santa Bárbara , Monumental and independent artists, through cultural interventions throughout the country, these have managed to make visible the transforming power of art and how this movement is a tool for social improvement, sanitation of public spaces, with a positive impact on tourism, education and development of communities, with public art being the spark that calls people and institutions to support and collaborate in the common improvement of our communities, our people and our country through art.

These groups and independent artists have made hundreds of murals in the Dominican Republic and abroad, which embellish and fill the communities of our island with pride, sometimes with the support of private companies, state institutions or efforts of the same groups.

Transiendo Artistic Project
Transiendo is an artistic, cultural and social project whose main purpose is to use art as a tool for social improvement and at the same time to promote and promote the local artistic industry, promoting artistic creation in its different expressions so that it reaches each citizen, fostering development intellectual and economic of the Dominican society. The group is made up of artists of dance, plastic arts, theater, music, graphic design, film, photography, among others.

The project is directed by the artist and cultural manager Cromcin Domínguez in conjunction with a team of specialist coordinators in different areas of art such as Héctor Farías, Malvin Montero, Mabel Manzano, Willy Gómez, Pedro Veras, Bryan Terrero, among others.

Independent artists and cultural management collectives, we decided to unite to carry out artistic and cultural actions and make visible the transforming power of art and at the same time use it as a tool for social improvement, and promote the intellectual development of Dominican society, transmitting values ​​such as discipline, brotherhood , honesty, kindness, teamwork, management among others, sharing these experiences to develop them in the communities.

In seven years we have carried out more than 200 activities between talks, workshops and interventions of public art and muralization, which include having participated in the book fair on three occasions, collaborators of the Colonial Fest, giving art to the lamp posts nationwide ( We raised more than 2,500 light poles on the same day, making it the country with the largest number of art-filled light poles in the world), our murals have been transferred to shopping centers, different parks, squares, and public places.

for this date the plastic creations can be appreciated in various neighborhoods and towns of the country such as Cabrera, Barahona, Hato Mayor, Punta Cana, La Romana, San Cristóbal, Haina, Rio San Juan, Samaná, San Carlos, Los Alcarrizos, Azua, Villa Juana , El Malecón, Los Guandules, Los Minas, Cultural Center of Spain, Perelló Cultural Center among many more. The project was also selected as a finalist for the 2018 IDB design festival and right now we are featured in the publication of murals in Vienna, a tourist guide magazine of muralism in Europe, with the murals made by 8 Dominican artists in Cuatro Caminos, Madrid, Spain 2018.

Where in addition to the realization of the murals, we have the support in the pedagogical part with the scenic artists such as musicians, dancers, actors, photographers, etc. The Transiendo RD project has carried out 3 major events outside the country, transiting Cuba, 2 times in Madrid Spain 2016-2018.

We are advisers and collaborators of the UN with Art 2030, in the promotion of the SDGs (sustainable development goals) with which we have carried out various activities and created a platform of more than 300 artists from all areas throughout the country.
