Transit visa application statement from the Ministry of Interior

The Ministry of Interior stated that the transit visa application is important for the future of the country and that the registered students of the universities will not be affected by this.

The Ministry made a statement on the transit visa decision taken by the Republic of Turkey Immigration Administration.

In the statement, it was stated that the transit visa application, which was previously in effect due to the visa regime of the Republic of Turkey and was softened due to the extraordinary conditions during the pandemic period, started to be implemented again with the decision taken by the Republic of Turkey Immigration Administration:

“With the decision taken within the framework of interstate agreements and cooperation protocols between the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, it is an important step for the future of the TRNC to introduce transit visas in order to protect the country’s security and public peace, to which our people have been sensitive for a long time.

The registered students of our universities, which are one of the leading sectors in the development of the TRNC economy, will not be affected by the application, and the decisions taken will also contribute to the increase in student quality and the strengthening of our country’s reputation. The TRNC is one of the countries where quality education will be obtained with the safest and educational institutions. In addition to the transit visa that came into effect with the decision of the Republic of Turkey Immigration Administration, with the e-visa automation system that we will put into practice in a short time, both the entry into the country will be more controlled and the quality of students in higher education will increase. In this way, our country will win.”
