Transforming a Gray Wall into a Vibrant Artwork: The Story of a Community Graffiti Project in Ardèche

“Beautify this gray wall. » In one sentence, Véronique Schmit, Deputy for Youth and Sports, summarized the mission entrusted to Mourad Bouaziz. “We first thought of flowers, which were too banal,” she admits. Hence the idea of turning to “a creative art”. The names of the graffiti artist and Apsis-Émergence then stood out, especially since they have already collaborated.

To color the 66 meters, it took them several months and 100 hours of work. They can now enjoy the bright colors that now adorn it. “It showed us the profession of graffiti artist,” appreciates one of the young people involved.

A week in Ardèche

Khadidja Bettahar, coordinator of the association and former footballer, welcomes what she considers to be “an entry into the world of work”: “This made it possible to involve them in the life of the city and to show another image of the youth. »

Mourad Bouaziz gets going: “The fresco teaches teamwork. We need this complicity to build. » And the young people were rewarded for their efforts: “We were able to go to Ardèche for a week”, they relish. The project, with a total budget of €10,000, was financed by the City, the State and Apsis.
