Transform your gadgets into new research advances during the Cancer Foundation’s Pink Ribbon campaign in October

During the Cancer Foundation’s Pink Ribbon campaign in October, you as an individual or company can auction off gadgets and services, for the benefit of the Cancer Foundation. Both the auctioneer and the bidder contribute to vital cancer research in a simple and sustainable way.

In this year’s Rosa Bandet campaign, the Cancer Foundation has produced a fundraising activity under the name “Rosa auktioner.” By selling what you do not need for the Cancer Foundation, it is thus possible to participate and contribute to the research in a sustainable way. On October 1, the Cancer Foundation, together with Tradera, will launch a new service where those who start an auction can choose that the money goes directly to a fundraising organization. If you choose to start a Pink auction in October, the money will be donated to the Cancer Foundation.

“The money collected during the Pink Ribbon campaign constitutes a significant part of the money that the Cancer Foundation distributes each year to Sweden’s foremost cancer research. Together, we can ensure that fewer people are affected and more people survive cancer, ”says Ulrika Årehed Kågström, Secretary General of the Cancer Foundation.

Some planned pink auctions

  • A person who recently lost his mother to cancer, will auction off his Ferrari for the benefit of the research – so that more mothers can survive.

  • This year’s Pink Band designer Selam Fessahaye will auction off her pink dream dress Zap Ruffle Dress which is part of her first collection which was shown at Stockholm Fashion Week 2018. The dress is handmade from 30 meters of tulle and the model has been worn by Beyoncé in her visual album Black Is King.
  • The Cancer Foundation will auction off the world’s most expensive pink ribbon, which is handmade by this year’s designer.
  • Interflora, which is one of our main partners, will auction off a workshop in flower tying with master florist Johan Munter.

Fees at Pink Auctions
The pink auctions put up by the Cancer Foundation are free of charge, so all the money goes directly to the Cancer Foundation. On the ads Tradera users sell for the Cancer Foundation, the fees are limited to a total of 15% (of which 10% is Tradera’s commission and 5% is Pennybridge’s commission), but at Rosa auktioner a maximum of SEK 400 is paid in fees at an auction, regardless of final price.

About the Cancer Foundation’s Pink Ribbon campaign
The Cancer Foundation’s Pink Ribbon campaign has been running in October every year since 2003, with the aim of raising money for cancer research, disseminating knowledge and influencing decision-makers on important issues. The money raised is distributed to the most promising research, regardless of the type of cancer. During the campaign, we focus on breast cancer and issues relevant to breast cancer in our knowledge-spreading and opinion-forming work.

About the Cancer Foundation
The Cancer Foundation’s vision is to defeat cancer. By funding the best research, spreading knowledge about cancer and influencing decision-makers on important issues, we work to ensure that fewer people are affected and more people survive. The Cancer Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization without state support. Our work is completely dependent on gifts from individuals and companies. Since 1951, we have distributed just over SEK 12 billion to the leading research projects in Sweden.
