5A LABO, an art brand under AC Art Cube, aims to create an exhibition space for artists and brands to freely connect. A few days ago, 5A LABO facilitated Chengdu to hold the solo exhibition “Transform TRANSFORM” of the young artist Xue Tie, which was exclusively sponsored by Levi’s®.
Xue Xi integrates his love for trendy culture into his creations, such as sneakers, clothing, etc., and transforms the original attributes of these ready-made products. For example, the wearing function of sneakers as a walking tool is deprived, and the “wearing” is transformed into “lighting” or “audio playback”. Viewers can still see the original appearance of the product from the current form of the work, but compared with their original appearance The product attributes, shapes and scenes have changed; the “Cloth LUE” series created by Levi’s® 501® uses Levi’s® jeans to replace the blue material used in traditional blue and white porcelain production, both of which are “green ( blue)”, through the transformation of materials and the combination of Levi’s® and antique porcelain, it explores the cultural collision between China, the West, ancient and modern. Through the works in the exhibition, it presents the artist’s past thinking on trend culture, consumerism and art ecology, the discussion and transformation of commodity consumption, as well as his own experiment and context of recreating ready-made products.
