Egil Rosenberg’s personal exhibition “Transfiguration”

From November 3 (opening of the exhibition) until January 21, 2024, in the large exhibition hall of the Liepāja Museum, Kūrmājas pr. 16/18 the tapestry exhibition “Transfiguration” by the outstanding Latvian textile artist Egils Rozenbergs can be viewed.
The exhibition includes the textile artist’s large-format fiber art objects, which convincingly prove that the ancient fabric art, constantly changing its external form and materials, as well as developing current ideas, has the opportunity to confidently develop creatively in the future.
The title of Egil Rosenberg’s solo exhibition “Transfiguration” can be explained in three ways. First of all, it is associated with the biblical saying about the transfiguration of Christ, secondly, it denotes a joyful, glorifying change, and thirdly, a change in external form – metamorphosis. The third explanation is most directly related to the artist’s work since the first exhibition in 1968, with the constant change of handwriting, techniques and materials from classical tapestry to spatial objects.
