TRANSFER – Urdapiletta will join Perpignan next season

According to the Midi Olympique, the Argentinian opener from Castres Olympique Benjamin Urdapiletta should join USAP next season. At the end of the contract with the CO, an agreement was reached for two years in Catalonia.

USAP is currently the leader of the Pro D2 tied on points (49) with Vannes. If the Catalan club had already offered the services of Fijian Ben Volavola (29 years old, 36 caps) in the off-season, it will be a new quality 10 that will wear the colors blood and gold. Arrived in Castres in 2015 at the same time as Christophe Urios, Urdapiletta enjoyed the title of champion of France with the CO and no less than 16 selections with Argentina, including a few during the 2019 World Cup in Japan.

The first option was an extension at Castres, as his contract came to an end. No deal since the player’s expectation turned to a two-year contract when that of the club was only an additional year. Then we said Urdapiletta in the direction of UBB, with his former coach Urios, but the negotiations fell through. After Oyonnax and Castres, he will know the Top 14 or the Pro D2 depending on whether or not Perpignan has climbed. His two-year contract should delight the Perpignan staff who were close to signing Greig Laidlaw before buying Ben Volavola. Volavola only got one year of contract and this signing could push him towards the exit. Urdapiletta will find Jenonimo De La Fuente (29 years old, 56 caps) who has also signed for USAP, but him, for 3 years.
