Brighton, Hove Albion and Chelsea are locked in transfer talks Moses Caicedo. Brighton manager Robert De Zerbi spoke out on the matter and explained that if Caicedo leaves, they need a replacement for him. He also made a dig at Chelsea, as the Blues don’t compete in any European leagues.
Speaking to the media, De Zerbi addressed the issue of Caicedo’s transfer; he said, “If Moises leaves, we have to find the right player. We have to replace him with a great player because this year we are playing in the Europa League, unlike Chelsea. Brighton will play in the Europa League this year after finishing 6th in the Premier League.
This will be Brighton’s first European campaign. Chelsea, on the other hand, had a dismal season last year. The Blues changed three managers during the season and spent a whopping $400 million in the transfer window. Still, the club finished in the bottom half of the table, in 12th position.
The Blues hope to finish strong this season. They appointed a new director, Mauricio Pochettino, which will aim to lead the club to the top echelons of the Premier League. Meanwhile, Brighton are preparing to leave their mark on Europe. Brighton played a pre-season friendly against Chelsea in the United States, where Chelsea beat the Seagulls 4-3.
