The most important things at a glance
Who does BVB get? Can Eintracht Frankfurt make the successful mini upheaval? And with which team does Schalke want to get promoted again? These and many other questions will be answered in this transfer summer. At t-online there is an overview of the most important rumors and changes from Germany and the world.
From Barcelona to PSG: ex-BVB star before mega change
Ousmane Dembélé is about to leave FC Barcelona. The ex-BVB star is to switch to the top French club Paris Saint-Germain. The Spanish and French media report unanimously.
Accordingly, the 26-year-old will sign a five-year contract with PSG. The deal is made possible by an exit clause in Dembélé’s contract. This is 50 million euros and should now be drawn by PSG. In addition to a princely salary, the Frenchman will probably also receive 25 percent of the transfer fee.
Dembélé has played for FC Barcelona since 2017. At that time, after an outstanding season in Dortmund, he switched to the Catalans for 135 million euros. This makes it BVB’s record sale.
Ex-Frankfurt star moves to Besiktas
Ante Rebić will play for top Turkish club Beşiktaş Istanbul. The Süper Lig club announced this on Monday. The 29-year-old Croatian, who scored goals for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga between 2016 and 2019, comes on a free transfer from AC Milan.
In Istanbul Rebić receives a two-year contract and shirt number seven.
Gladbach borrows Leeds professional
In Maximilian Wöber, Borussia Mönchengladbach have signed another defender for the coming season. The 25-year-old Austrian is on loan for a year from English club Leeds United, who are now coached by Gladbach’s ex-coach Daniel Farke. Wöber is Gladbach’s seventh summer signing, and alongside Fabio Chiarodia and Lukas Ullrich he is the third new defender.
“It’s an extremely attractive task that I’m really looking forward to,” said Wöber, who was unable to prevent relegation from the Premier League after moving from RB Salzburg to Leeds in the second half of the season.
RB Salzburg: Struber follows Jaissle
The former assistant and youth coach Gerhard Struber is the new head coach of the Austrian Bundesliga club RB Salzburg and thus the successor to the German Matthias Jaissle, who emigrated to Saudi Arabia. RB announced on Monday the signing of the 46-year-old Austrian, who last coached MLS club New York Red Bulls until May.
Previously, Julian Nagelsmann (most recently FC Bayern) and Oliver Glasner (most recently Eintracht Frankfurt) had also been traded as Jaissle’s successors. In both cases, however, an obligation should not have been financially feasible.
Jaissle was released on Friday, one day before the start of the Bundesliga, because he was negotiating with the Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal. The former Hoffenheim professional has now signed there and is said to collect ten million euros a year.
Report: Liverpool in Mbappé loan talks
According to an English media report, Liverpool FC and coach Jürgen Klopp are said to be interested in loaning star striker Kylian Mbappé from Paris Saint-Germain. The Premier League club is in talks with the club of the 2018 French world champion, the “Mirror” reported at the weekend. Liverpool are ready to offer the 24-year-old a one-year loan deal, it said. The former Bundesliga manager Jörg Schmadtke works as sports director for the “Reds”.
Mbappé is under contract with PSG until the end of next season. He had declared that he did not want to extend the contract with the French capital club. Since then there have been numerous speculations about the future of the superstar. Mbappé is said to have already agreed a move with Real Madrid in the summer of 2024, meaning he could only move to another club for a year.
