After finishing in the United Arab Emirates, Novák was a free agent. He trained with Sigma already at the beginning of autumn. Coach Václav Jílek admitted it at the time. He claimed that he would like a seasoned fighter who comes from nearby Přerov. The catch, however, was that Novák still preferred foreign engagements at the time.
It was similar with another former football player from Olomouc, Tomáš Přikryl. After the end in Bialystok, Poland, he also prepared for several weeks with Hanáky, but ended up in Poland again when he recently signed with Warta Poznaň.
Novák, on the other hand, accepted Olomouc’s offer. He signed the contract until June 30, 2024, i.e. until the end of the current season. If everything can be fine-tuned administratively, he could already start in Saturday’s league match against his former club Jablonec. He played for the latter from 2011 to 2015, before he left for Danish Midtjylland. He then worked in Turkey in Trabzonspor and Fenerbahce. He played 25 matches for the national team and scored one goal.
