Transfer News: Nîmes Olympique Signs Waly Diouf as Central Defender

Nîmes Olympique has just formalized the arrival of central defender Waly Diouf for two seasons.

A Versaillese replaces another Versaillese! After having passed his medical examination today at Barnsley (English D3), Maël Durand de Gevigney will therefore continue his career across the Channel. In one year in the Gard, he will have played 31 Ligue 2 matches.

The sports director of Nîmes Olympique had anticipated and quickly found his replacement in central defense. This is a player who also arrives from Versailles. Waly Diouf has played there the last two seasons.

In 2021/2022, he therefore rubbed shoulders with De Gevigney and participated in the rise to National and especially in the crazy epic in the Coupe de France completed in the semi-finals. This season this former U20 international with Senegal has played 17 National matches.

Aged 26, the powerful defender (1m92, 90 kg), at the end of the contract in Yvelines, has signed up for two seasons with NO. The native of Neuilly-sur-Seine has already traveled a lot. Passed among young people at PSG, Lyon and Auxerre, he then joined exotic championships such as Lithuania, Tunisia or the Czech Republic.

From now on, Nîmes Olympique is looking to recruit an experienced goalkeeper and a top striker to complete its transfer window.
