Spain national team player Aymeric Laporte is moving from English champions Manchester City to Saudi club al-Nassr. Both clubs announced this on Thursday. At his new employer, 29-year-old Laporte will be team-mates with Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane. According to BBC information, al-Nassr will pay 27.5 million euros for the defender, who still had a contract with City until the summer of 2025.
Laporte came to Manchester City from Athletic Bilbao in 2018 for a reported 65 million euros. The defender won numerous titles with coach Josep Guardiola’s team. After knee surgery, he missed the start of last season and subsequently lost his regular place.
ManCity brings Belgian winger
Meanwhile, Manchester City have strengthened their squad with Belgium international Jeremy Doku. The club announced the transfer of the 21-year-old winger from French club Stade Rennes on Thursday night. According to media reports, Man City will have to pay around 65 million euros for the commitment.
Doku has signed a five-year contract with his new club and is the third signing after Mateo Kovacic (from Chelsea) and Josko Gvardiol (Leipzig). The documentary aims to close the gap left by Riyad Mahrez’s departure to Saudi Arabia for al-Ahli.
“This is a big day for me, both personally and professionally,” the fast and tricky attacking player was quoted as saying in a club press release: “Manchester City are the best team in world football. Joining this club is very special for me and my family.”
