Transfer lobbies: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Barcelona, Ousmane Dembele or Philippe Coutinho to Arsenal

Arsenal are considering using Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as ‘bait’ in a swap deal with Barcelona.

Mirror claim the Catalans are exploring the possibility of loaning the Gabon international after he was stripped of his captaincy and suspended by manager MIkel Arteta following the latest disciplinary case.

Ex attacker The Borussia Dortmund coach is currently training separately from the Arsenal squad and faces an uncertain future at the Emirates Stadium.

Aubameyang’s own contract at the Emirates has 18 months remaining, with him earning a salary of £350,000 per week.

Barca can accept a swap deal that is beneficial for both parties. Former Liverpool member Philippe Coutinho is a strong candidate to be sent to Arsenal.

Besides Coutinho, the name Ousmane Dembele could also be an attractive option for Arsenal. The Frenchman is one of those who have struggled to develop at Camp Nou due to injury problems.

So, Aubameyang’s swap could involve Coutinho or Dembele.

Dembele, who was signed from Dortmund for £105m, has failed miserably to produce consistent form since joining Barca and so far has not been offered a new contract.

Dembele’s time of service at Camp Nou will end next summer.

However, any deal involving Aubameyang, Arsenal and Barcelona is likely to be more complicated as the striker will participate in the Africa Cup of Nations next month.
