On Wednesday it became clear that Bakker will exchange Leverkusen for Atalanta. Romano confirms the news and provides additional details. Bakker costs ten million plus one million in bonuses, while Leverkusen picked him up from Paris Saint-Germain for about seven million in 2021.
Bakker will sign for four years in the north of Italy. On an annual basis, the youth international of Orange will collect 2.2 million euros net. It is not known what salary Bakker received in Germany. He still had a two-year contract with Leverkusen.
Last month, Bakker was still missing from the Dutch Juniors at the European Championship under 21. He initially signed off with national coach Erwin van de Looi, because he wanted to report fit to his new club. Bakker later changed his mind, but Van de Looi turned out to be unrelenting and did not accept the defender in mercy.
