Transfer Battle: Liverpool and Chelsea Compete for Moises Caicedo and Mateo Lavia

For several weeks, Liverpool and Chelsea have been trying to sign Mateo Lavia for the first and Moises Caicedo for the second. The two English clubs seem to have decided to disrupt each other’s case.

Before meeting on the pitch, Chelsea and Liverpool are already clashing on the transfer market. For several weeks, Chelsea have been trying to enlist Moises Caicedo, who burst onto the screen with Brighton last season. However, the Blues are struggling to find an agreement with the Seagulls who are asking for 115 million euros for their defensive midfielder. According to the English press, Liverpool would have entered the race for the Ecuadorian player. The Reds would have outbid by making a higher offer than Chelsea’s last. This offer would be around 100 million euros. This summer, Liverpool want to renew their midfield which saw Jordan Henderson and Fabinho leave for Saudi Arabia while Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister have already arrived.
If the two English clubs are obviously more advanced in the negotiations, Bayern Munich is also keeping an eye on Moises Caicedo.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have been in talks with Southampton for some time to sign midfielder Roméo Lavia. Sky Sports reports that Chelsea have made a bigger offer than Liverpool to the Saints. Southampton have turned down a €52m offer from the Reds. Chelsea are now offering 55M. After signing Lesley Ugochukwu, the London club are still looking for two additional midfielders since the departures of N’Golo Kanté, Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mason Mount in this sector. The Blues have still activated other leads, including the one leading to Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams.
Pending responses from the selling clubs, Liverpool and Chelsea will face off this Sunday at 5:30 p.m. on the lawn of Stamford Bridge for what will be the shock of this first day of the Premier League 2023/2024.
