Transdev modifies the timetables and routes of certain lines

During the night from Sunday to Monday, a group of individuals forced a driver to get off the bus he was driving in Aulnay-sous-Bois. The vehicle was then set on fire. As a precautionary measure, Transdev, which operates on the line, has changed some of its routes.

The precautionary principle also exists in public transport. Transdev has chosen to limit and deviate certain lines due to a particularly tense context. A rare measure.

“Our objective is to protect employees. Until tomorrow evening, we deviate from all sensitive areas from 4.30 p.m. and we stop the service at 8 p.m. We must bring people to work and bring them back, we need continuity of the public service but the events are serious enough to take exceptional measures”explains Jérôme Garnier, Managing Director of Transdev TRA.

Lines 605, 607, 609, 610, 613, 615, 616, 617, 618, 627 and 637 are affected by this measure.

On Sunday, this bus was traveling in Aulnay-sous-Bois when a group of around fifty people attacked the driver. The latter made the few passengers get off and had to leave his place. The vehicle was then brought to the city of 3,000 and then set on fire.

The manager, Jérôme Garnier, head of the Villepinte site (400 drivers serving the department) claims to have never witnessed such acts: “We serve sensitive neighborhoods, we have reduced all acts of aggression by 30% in three years. We have done a lot of work with the associations, we have a bus dedicated to this to explain our public service role, the utility for them and their families. We had never seen that”.

The bus is owned by Île-de-France Mobilités (the transport authority in the region) and was chartered by Transdev. Its cost is around 300,000 euros.

These events follow the death on Saturday of Jean-Paul, known as “JP”, a resident of the Beaudottes district in Sevran and father of four children.

Around 12:30 p.m., a crew from the Aulnay-sous-Bois anti-crime brigade (BAC) had been requested to track a van reported stolen and attempt to check the driver, who had stopped at a red light.

“A police officer came up to the driver’s window and, in circumstances that have yet to be determined, fired his weapon – a single shot – as the van slammed into motion again.”traced Éric Mathais, the public prosecutor of Bobigny, in a press release published on Sunday.

Seriously injured in the left shoulder blade, according to a police source, he died at the end of the afternoon in hospital as a result of his injuries.

According to the story of some residents, “JP” had stolen the vehicle of his employer, a service provider for a logistics platform for the delivery of parcels, unhappy with an unpaid salary.
