“Transavia Cancels Return Flights from Spain Due to Aircraft Shortage”

At the last minute, Transavia canceled some return flights from Spain. This includes four flights from the Spanish airports of Valencia and Málaga to Eindhoven Airport. Due to a shortage of aircraft, the airline cannot operate all scheduled flights. It Cancel of these flights resulted in hundreds of travelers being forced to extend their holidays, while the duration of this situation is still unknown.

Transavia is experiencing a shortage of aircraft, which means that 5% of flights are changed or canceled in April and May. Although the company does not provide exact numbers, report it Dutch newspapers that about 50,000 passengers will be affected. The airline will not have six aircraft in its fleet until May.

Four aircraft have to be grounded due to documentation problems. The safety certification is missing for the aircraft that Transavia leases from the Romanian airline Blue Air. Two other aircraft are undergoing major maintenance, with mechanics waiting for parts from aircraft manufacturer Boeing. It is also written that there is a shortage of mechanics.

Due to an aircraft shortage, Transavia is therefore forced to cancel 5% of the scheduled flights in April and May. Thousands of travelers will be affected, and the situation is even more dire for those already at their destination who are unexpectedly unable to fly back due to the airline’s canceled flights.

It is not yet known when the stranded passengers in Valencia and Málaga can fly home. Transavia indicates that they are in any case entitled to compensation. For now, it seems that travelers flying with Transavia have to take into account the risk that a flight will unexpectedly not depart. This can therefore happen before the trip to Spain starts, but also if you are already present and cannot fly back.
