With the presidency of the board, Marcus Warnke from the Rhineland takes up a position at the club which has seen many changes in recent years and has been vacant for a long time. Most recently, Lore Haack-Vörsmann surprisingly stepped down from his post after just a few months earlier this year. Warnke wants to bring new continuity to the management of the club. The 58-year-old works as a management consultant in Hamburg and owns a Hallberg Rassy 352 moored on the Elbe.
Warnke was previously responsible for development on the board of directors and sees her strengths here through her professional competence. He wants to further develop Trans Ocean and focus more on the interests of younger members.
In future, Warnke will be joined by his new deputy, Thomas von Haken, owner of an Ovni 36. The Berlin engineer replaces Bremen lawyer Egon Lutomsky, who has headed the association on an interim basis for the past few years but has not stood his ground for re-election. For his efforts, Egon Lutomsky was made an honorary member of Trans Ocean.
The association’s more than 4,000 members are spread throughout the world and cover tens of thousands of nautical miles each year. Once a year, particularly outstanding cruises or achievements are honored. The Ocean Award now received for his life’s work Bobby Schenkwho, as a pioneer and author of the circumnavigation, shaped the German blue water scene like no other.
With Heide and Erich Wilts two more famous German circumnavigators became new honorary members appointed.
The Trans-Ocean-Preis received Melvin Fink for his third place in the 2021 Mini-Transat. His opponent at the time and current teammate Lennart Burke was with the new Race Awardformerly pewter bowl, excellent.
One A-Medaille ging an Michael Gramse and his family for an extraordinary trip to South America during the Corona pandemic. The Austrians also received this award Jürgen and Claudia Kirchberger for a lively trip to Greenland and back last summer.
Of the circumnavigator award ging an Angela Resch and Reto Valär on their catamaran “She San”, a Fountaine Pajot Belize 43 type catamaran.
Two particularly noteworthy journeys were also presented: the one from Stuttgart who lives in Austria Nicolas Manthos sailed his Hurley 18 “¼ Life Crises” first across the Mediterranean and then solo to the Caribbean in February 2022. Next spring, the flight instructor wants to go back to the boat alone.
Thomas Hertes and Annette Vanek sailed a long voyage in the North Sea with a changing crew: spread over two years, they and 23 sailors covered nearly 5000 nautical miles in 25 legs around England and along the Norwegian coast.
