On Monday, councilors will decide on the announcement of the tender. The construction of the road has been required for a long time by the City Hall of Prague 6. The city is also preparing the reconstruction of Vítězné náměstí, which should limit the operation of cars and trams on it.

According to a document to be approved by councilors, the new road should run along the railway line behind the General Píky barracks complex and in Gymnasijní Street next to the Diplomat Hotel it would lead to Evropská Street. The municipality estimates that it will pay 14.5 million crowns for the construction project.

Prague is now commissioning a project to transform Victory Square, for which it previously announced an architectural competition. The office of Pavel Hnilička Architekti succeeded in that. The project should be completed in March next year, the total cost of converting the square is estimated at 500 million crowns without VAT.

The main idea of the modifications is to release the center of the square by moving the tram and car traffic so that it can fulfill the function of a standard square. The City Hall of Prague 6 has previously conditioned the restriction of traffic on a busy square with the construction of a bypass, even in connection with the commissioning of the Blanka tunnel complex, which brought other cars to Prague 6.

Vítězné náměstí was established in 1925 and now several streets open into it – Evropská, Čs. armies, Yugoslav guerrillas, Svatovítská and Dejvická. It had several names, among others from 1952 to 1990 it was called the October Revolution. Among the people of Prague, the name Kulaťák was adopted for him.
