Trampled by Mass of Demonstration at Horse Statue, Gambir Police Chief Injures Arm-Neck

Gambir Police Chief Kompol Rango Siregar was trampled by a mass demonstration at the Horse Statue, Central Jakarta. Rango was injured from the neck to the arm.

“(Kapolsek Gambir) is being treated at the hospital, is being examined, there are injuries to the neck and arms,” ​​said Deputy Head of Central Jakarta Police AKBP Koes Setyo to reporters, Friday (20/5/2022).

Koes said Kompol Rango is currently being examined by hospital doctors. Rango will bex-ray to find out more about his injuries.

“Neck and right arm, will now be examined again x-ray,” he said.

Apart from Kompol Rango, Koes said, there were two other members who were trampled on by the masses. They are Ipda Waluyo, Head of Sub-unit of Dalmas, Gambir Police and Brigadier Renaldy Ambarita. Both are also being treated in hospital.

“Ipda Waluyo is currently hospitalized with injuries and bruises on his waist. Bripda Renaldy Ambarita has bruises on his knee,” Koes explained.

Previously, the mass action from the Student Executive Board (BEM) of several Muhammadiyah campuses at the Horse Statue, Central Jakarta, was forcibly dispersed. The demonstration was disbanded because the crowd tried to break through the line of officers.

Monitoring detik.com at the Horse Statue, Friday (20/5/2022), the BEM Muhammadiyah college mass was dispersed by the police at around 17.15 WIB. A number of students were arrested by officers and taken to police cars.

The masses were involved in pushing each other with officers. The mob tried to break through the police barricades to demonstrate under the JPO.
