A tram derailed in The Hague this afternoon. That happened on the Lage Zand, in the center of the city. According to witnesses, the passengers were not injured.
It is not yet known how the tram derailed. “We are investigating that, but that takes time,” a spokesperson for the HTM told Broadcasting West† The tram did not fall over when it derailed, but ended up well next to the rails.
The spokesperson for the transport company does not yet know how long it will take before the tram is removed. “Everything and everyone is on their way to get everything back on track as quickly as possible.”
The tram is still standing in the middle of the intersection with the Scheldt harbour. Much of the intersection is closed. Traffic has to detour.
