Trains were canceled at Liège-Guillemins station after an attack against an NMBS employee

Several trains were canceled at the Liège-Guillemins station on Monday morning after an attack against an NMBS employee. The railway company reported this on its website on Monday.

Some trains were canceled after a case of assault against an NMBS employee at Liège-Guillemins station. The railway company reported this on its website on Monday.

According to the socialist trade union ACOD, a train driver was attacked with a box cutter on Sunday night when he parked his train in Kinkempois, a district in Liège. Following the incident, the NMBS staff stopped work on Monday morning.

“People often visit the Kinkempois workshop to jam or damage the trains,” says Thierry Moers, national secretary of CGSP Cheminots. At about 9.50pm on Sunday, a train driver was attacked while parking his train at the depot. “He came across people who wanted to stab him in the face with a box cutter. The driver managed to protect himself with his arm. He suffered injuries to his wrist and arm.”

The socialist union could not yet say when the workers will start work. That depends on a meeting with management scheduled for around 10am. Passengers can take TEC buses with their train ticket, according to the NMBS.

Call the Securail emergency number or contact the police (101) if you, other passengers or an NMBS Group employee have been the victim of aggression.
