Cassandra Schirmer also has to be fit for her job when asked for helpful hiking tips. Templiner is trained at Tourismus Marketing Templin GmbH (TMT) as a tourism and leisure entrepreneur and is in her second year of training. Checking out the hiking trails at Templin and Lychen, walking them yourself and seeing them through the eyes of a tourist makes sense. The young woman did it and together with Leon Losch, an event management trainee in her third year of training at TMT, she compiled a brochure about it. Guests who turn to the tourist information in the historic town hall will find them on display stands with information material.

“This is our first major independent project in our lineup,” says Leon Losch. He prepared the material, took care of the layout, selected the photos and created the maps showing the progress of the paths. Cassandra Schirmer walked the following selected routes: “In the Templin region on the circular canal route (four kilometres), on the route along the Großer Mahlgastsee (nine kilometres), around the Templiner Stadtsee (ten kilometres), in the Tangersdorfer Heide (ten kilometers ) and in the spa mile tour (13 kilometres),” he says. In Lychen you will find the city promenade (1.5), Wurlseerundweg (7), Stübnitzrundweg (12) and Woblitzrundweg (20).

“We decided to use marked hiking trails and attractive unmarked routes,” says 21-year-old Cassandra Schirmer. In the Lychen Region, Roy Rempt supported the trainees with tips. He works in the municipal administration. The brochure contains not only the respective route description, but also information on the nature of the trails. There are also suggestions of what can be discovered “on the edge”, places to see or where to stop along the way to strengthen. “Cycling is a priority for tourists in our region, but there are always guests who ask about excursion possibilities,” knows Cassandra Schirmer from personal experience. Berliners in particular would appreciate the peace and seclusion when hiking. TMT has been training for years, says Verena Beeskow. It manages the tourist information of Templin. Giving young people the opportunity to carry out their own projects as part of their education is important. “This time we put the trainees on the trail to get to know the infrastructure and hiking trails.”

Cassandra Schirmer and Leon Losch are happy that they were able to expand and improve their skills and abilities through this project. “We learned a lot,” says Leon Losch. That certainly includes acknowledging how much work goes into such a brochure. “That’s why we’re kind of proud and relieved that we made it.” The 21-year-old has personally experienced the fact that he now sees the landscape on his doorstep with different eyes. Incidentally, Cassandra Schirmer, an aspiring tourism and leisure worker, has identified a favorite hiking trail for herself after work. “It is definitely the route through Tangersdorfer Heide.”
