Evo claims to have around 50,000 customers at its fitness centers around the country. It was before the weekend that several members began to report that money was wrongly withdrawn from them, writes The Bergen newspaper.
Some of them have had their subscription price of NOK 399 deducted up to four times, says general manager Morten Hellevang at Evo to BA. According to him, the fault lies with the payment provider Verifone.
– The payment provider believes that the transactions have gone into a “loop”, and therefore the customers must have been withdrawn several times, says Hellevang.
– Hope people can forgive us
So far, 1,000 people have reported since the problems started on Thursday. Hellevang says he thinks there are far more people affected. He says the chain is still working on getting an overview. While work is being done on error correction, all subscriptions are frozen until further notice.
– We expect the money to be refunded to all customers during Monday. Once it has been completed, we will try to find other possible compensation for those who have been affected, says Hellevang.
He calls the incident “embarrassing” and says Evo is lying flat on his face.
– I hope people can forgive us, but we see that this can damage our reputation, admits Hellevang.
