UKE Academy for Education & Career (ABK) – Start of training: November 1st, 2022
Orthoptists are very specialized professionals in the field of ophthalmology. They examine, diagnose and treat visual impairments, strabismus and neurological eye movement disorders. The field of activity can also include the adjustment of magnifying vision aids and neuro-ophthalmological rehabilitation. Orthoptists work in the therapeutic team.
The training to become an orthoptist starts on November 1st, 2022 and lasts three years.

- work carefully and responsibly
- have a high school diploma or high school diploma
- have completed a two-week internship, e.g. in nursing or in kindergarten
- Ideally, you even did an internship with an orthoptist
For applications from abroad you need…
- knowledge of German at least B2 level
- one from a German school board Recognized and certified school leaving certificate (unfortunately the translation is not sufficient)
