This is new in the Vimeu. Passionate of dogs Franck Jourdain has always created his canine education club in Moyenneville « mantrailing »or tracking.
In this club it will be practiced theeducation for all dogs re-education for dogs with an aggressive history with other dogs or with humans, but also and above all the search for missing persons and the object detectionfor the most receptive dogs.
“All dogs can become trackers”explains Franck Jourdain, who will take on the role of vice-president within the association he created, and who is eager to start his activity.
Theoretical courses
Theoretical classroom lessons will be given to each of the masters. “Before trying anything with your dog, you need to know a minimum of information on the actions of these animals”, assures Franck Jourdain. For 40 years surrounded by dogs and horses and for 5 years involved in a dog club, the inhabitant of Moyenneville has had many educational experiences.
To complete and enrich his knowledge, Franck obtained the certificate of knowledge of companion animals and domestic species (Acaced), and then followed technical training as a canine educator at the training center for dog professions, created in 1982 by Herve Pupier, “world famous character of canine education and re-education, with its method of education in respect of the psychological and behavioral characteristics of the dog”.
What is “Mantrailing”?
The « Mantrailing » is the English name for the search for missing persons. This practice is offered to people who want to work with their dog by combining business with pleasure.
This is particularly an opportunity to understand and enter the world of smells in which dogs live. In addition to the interest of developing the animal’s olfactory capacities, mantrailing would make it possible to “strengthen your relationship with your animal by learning to observe it, read it, understand it”, assures the educator.
It is indeed a teamwork. Franck will not only educate your dog, but the relationship that binds you with him.
Technically, the dog can find the trace of a person 2 km around, for the most trained, with an olfactory trace which can sometimes have been left a few hours earlier. This smell is made up of dead skin cells, skin secretions, sweat, breath, hair, perfume, deodorant, tobacco, etc. “On these types of scents, dogs can move nose to the ground like nose in the air”explains Franck Jourdain.
For all dog breeds
Mantrailing is aimed at all breeds of dogs, without any prerequisites (apart from being at least 5 months old), since it calls on one of their natural abilities: the flair. All dogs have a natural sense of smell, you just have to develop it and teach them how to use it well.
It’s about a “very good activity for hyperactive and anxious dogs”says the educator.
It also develops the sociability of the animal.
If the club will formalize its creation shortly, the activities have already started and Franck is already working with a few dogs. Justine discovered Mantrailing with her dog Sya a few weeks ago: “It’s impressive to see your animal working”she admits.
She needs that and I feel like it brings us closer so that’s really good.
José Porez-Gomez also experienced it with his dog Sybelle. It is he who will take over the presidency of the club. He says : “I discovered my female dog and the qualities she could have despite the wrongs I may have done. Because, the educator assures him: “When things go wrong, it’s not the dog that’s wrong. »
For its part, the Embarek family has requested the services of Franck for their four German Shepherds « Ancien type » : Seal, Reese, Shadow and Snow. “Franck was able to adapt to the different characters and potential of our dogs”, they testify.
Finally, Lucie also tested the activity with her Malinois Ohio, four years old, who has experienced several attacks from his peers. Lucie explains: “Before joining this club, I have worked with other educators where the result was not the same. Here, we are not trying to put the dog in difficulty. I am happy to see my dog happy, relaxed. »
In a few days, Franck Jourdain will formalize the creation of the club with an agreement from the Vimeu Community of Communes to rent premises and land in Moyenneville, near the stadium.
