Train traffic in Utrecht resumed: suitcase left behind was a false alarm

Immediately after the discovery, a number of platforms were cleared, after which train traffic was stopped. NS called on travelers not to come to the station. Trains on their way to Utrecht stopped at another station. The police called in the Explosives Reconnaissance Team.

Severe Disruption

The situation caused a serious disruption of train traffic in a large part of the Netherlands, because Utrecht is an important junction.

“It is possible that trains that were on their way continue to the next station. Or they stop one station earlier, or turn around,” a spokesperson for NS said.
